| good option. when you do get it, look at amazon, mine was £50 cheaper on there than any where else. if you get really into photography i would recogmend getting 'Digital SLR Photography' magazine, i hav subscribed to it and it has got me through my Photography A level (as they teach us nothing at school). | |

| Loving the 1st and 5th mate!
Once you get you SLR, you'll be able to get creative with exposure, I use Adobe Lightroom for all my editing needs, its perfect, I think Johnny (Loner), Ridge, and Dibbers all use it too, it works a charm, and is VERY easy to get the hang of.
Jessops from time to time have Online Cashback deals, so you pay full amount and theres a form you print off, fill out and send off, and they can give you up to £150 back depending on the camera/bundle you buy, worth checking out. They also do it on some of their Canon Lenses.

| With Motor Racing and most fast paced sports, you'll ideally want a lens with a low aperture, f2.8, but that comes a very high cost.
Reason being, Aperture controls the focus, and also controls the amount of light let into the lens, a bit like the iris in the eye, it adjust according to light depending on situation. Because of how fast the cars will be moving, you'll need to shoot at a stupidly high shutter speed, therefore the shutter wont capture much light, so the ISO and Aperture are going to have to do all the work.
Hope that makes sense mate.

Hope that makes sense mate. thanks, it does make sense but looking at the prices for those lenses, i don't think 'll be able to affrod one of those for a long time though. I will be getting a 75mm-300mm lens soon so as to increase my effective range (in gun terms)

| check out sigma for lenses, mine is 70-300 and cost about £120, the qulity is good for what i need it for, (you cant really complain for that price) but not sure about motor shots. plus the auto focus is quite slow, but you would be better off manually focusing on the spot the car will past, then you only have to press the shutter. | |

| Motorsport shots are quite simple to take really, seems hard at first but once you get used to it, it's actually a doddle. I have a very tight budget with equipment at the minute and I still need to upgrade my gear. I use a Canon 70-200mm f4.0 and it hasn't failed me yet, ideally I'd really need the 70-200mm f2.8 but its the guts of £1100 =/. Make sure to use AI Servo as it will give continuous focus. Here is one of my latest Rally shots If it's a bright day I can use AV mode, set to f7.1, if not I usually use TV for shutter priority! | |
