Call Of Duty Black Ops: Quickscoping has been Banned

You may remember that a gameplay video leaked last week showing off some sniper action in Call of Duty Black Ops, and seemingly showed the player ‘quickscoping’. However, Treyarch has now confirmed that players will not be able to quickscope in the final version of the game.
That footage was taken from the closed beta of the game, but during a Q&A session on Twitter, Treyarch’s community manger Josh Olin answered some direct questions about whether or not quickscoping will be included in the game.
When simply asked if quickscoping will be possible in Black Ops, Olin replied: ”No. Quickscoping is a cheap way to play. We’re specifically going to gimp Quickscoping, sorry. Play straight-up!”

This obviously alerted a few other users reading Olin’s Twitter page and they continued to quiz him about quickscoping. When next asked if he was ‘joking’ about the above comment, he later replied: ”Nope. Quickscoping is way more annoying to a way larger group of people than the quickscoping community who loves to do it. #cheap”.
He later added that players will now need to wait a brief moment until the sniper sight is centered before they take a shot, and confirmed that no sniper rifles in the game are useful for quickscoping.
What are your thoughts on this? There will no doubt be a few of you upset about this, as you may think that quickscoping is a skill and should be allowed if a player takes the time to learn it. Treyarch obviously doesn’t see it that way though and are intending to make the game as fair as possible for everyone

read this earlier and been weeping ever since. it's an absolute disaster. ;( QSing was fun.

I'm pretty happy about it, as much as it is a skill.. Its fucking annoying, I used to love sniping in CoD4, and since Quick Scoping came about, I've never picked up a sniper...

I'm for that decision, well don Treyarch.

i dont mind, i got my BFBC2 sniping skizz OpTic nation are fucked though :L

I quite liked quick scoping... but looks like we'll have to get used to the old style of using the other sight

sometimes when im no scoped by these cunts the gun is pointed absolutely nowhere near me and they keep do it over and over again in a single game, i dont see an awful lot of it anymore anyway

I always thought you were really good at the acog scope sniping on cod 4 pepe. I was no where near your level. Hopefully you can get acog on the go and get good like before.

Glad to hear it, this is nearly as good as the no pro pipes for the first 30sec of the game

i was pretty good at it, used to be all id use for long periods of time. but the acog on mw2 just didnt do it for me (i couldnt use it lol). maybe theres a new one in BO that can be of use

ok so they banned quick scoping but not noob tubes? treyarch suck that just means im now going to get no scoped instead atleast quickscoping needed skill

but me + m40 on cod 4 = win..

COD4 M40 was good times. though i didnt start QSing till 2009 when i went back on COD4 and did it loads with m8s.

yeah but its just chance. no skill. if CoD was more realistic bullets would actually come straight out of a guns barrel rather than goin in all kinds of directions. its so annoying if, at close range, you aim straight at someone but the bullet somehow fires in a different direction.

the same can be said for qucik scoping, as ive said previously in this thread sometimes the barrel is pointed absolutely nowhere near me when i die. i can appreciated a good quickscoper but most them it just seems to work no matter where they point the gun

no thats just cos killcams arent completely accurate. most shots u do or people do on you will appear a long way off but thats cos of the killcam. in reality it was a hit. theres alot of skill in getting it aimed and timed in the way that some well known people do, such as Griz. most people can QS though, its just that some are better (and luckier) than others.

I had a good quick scope on wasteland Dom last night. Fits me over 40 kills. Chopper gunner inclusive mind. But it's good for me!

good for anyone you owned that game

Quickscoping was the only fun thing about cod, and it takes more skill than aiming a fucking overpowered gun at someone and killing them :/
